Grant Requirements

Keep Your Grant
In order to continue receiving grant funding, you need to be making satisfactory academic progress toward your program certificate. Some grants also require you to keep a certain grade point average (GPA). If your GPA drops below the lower limit, you may lose the grant. Your GPA should be on your transcript, which is typically updated every semester. Going on academic probation might also affect scholarship and loan money.

Watch the Calendar
Every year, you are required to renew your grants by completing a renewal Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). You can fill out the forms online, and plan to do it early, so you have more time to plan your finances for the next school year. You can complete the forms as early as January so make sure you know when your school's financial aid deadlines are.

Keeping these tips in mind can mean less stress during your school year. Because no two grant programs are alike, be sure to learn the deadlines and requirements for each of them so that you're prepared for the terms ahead.
